Job summary

YMCA DownsLink Group is seeking a Painter and Decorator based in Brighton and Hove, East Sussex. The role involves travelling to YMCA sites across Sussex and Surrey, undertaking redecorations to prepare empty homes for new residents and carrying out planned works in communal areas and offices.

You will work 37.5 hours weekly, Monday to Friday, with a full UK driving licence and vehicle provided. The team values safety, quality, and resident wellbeing, with safeguarding checks for applicants.

Qualifications

• NVQ 2 or equivalent in painting and decorating.
• Practical experience in maintenance, cleaning, or decorating within supported housing or similar settings.
• Strong commitment to safety, quality and resident wellbeing.
• Ability to prioritise and manage workload effectively.
• Good knowledge of health and safety requirements for painting and decorating.

Responsibilities

• Re decorate empty homes to prepare for new residents to relet quickly and to a consistent standard.
• Carry out planned redecoration within communal areas, offices and staff spaces.
• Identify repairs and undertake ad hoc cleaning and maintenance across sites.
• Collaborate with site and maintenance teams to ensure health and safety compliance.
• Support across sites in Brighton and Hove, with willingness to travel as required.
