Job summary

YMCA DownsLink Group in Sussex and Surrey is seeking a Maintenance Operative to support safe, welcoming homes across Brighton & Hove and Hove. The role is 37.5 hours weekly, permanent, with a salary of £28,330 per annum and a Monday–Friday 9am–5pm schedule.

A full UK driving licence is essential, and a vehicle will be provided. You will work across multiple properties, perform void works, ensure safety compliance, and support residents with maintenance and caretaking duties.

Qualifications

• Strong maintenance experience across a range of trade or repair tasks.
• Experience in supported housing, residential, or community settings.
• Commitment to safety, quality and resident wellbeing.
• Good understanding of health and safety and compliance processes.
• Proactive and organized approach to workload and prioritisation.

Responsibilities

• Provide a comprehensive maintenance, caretaking, and cleaning service.
• Carry out day-to-day maintenance across sites with occasional support to others.
• Complete maintenance and redecoration works within agreed timescales.
• Perform general caretaking and cleaning duties in communal areas.
