Job summary

Northumbrian Water Group is recruiting a Mechanical Technician for the Consett, County Durham Maintenance team. You will diagnose faults, perform preventative maintenance and improve plant availability on a variety of equipment.

A company van and tools are provided; you work remotely from home and join an out-of-hours standby rota with appropriate payments. The role offers a structured training path, potential internal progression, and a safety-focused culture.

Qualifications

• ONC/NVQ level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering.
• Maintenance background in reactive breakdowns and planned work.
• Able to read mechanical drawings, identify faults and replace components.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose faults and carry out preventative maintenance to improve plant availability.
• Operate as a fully mobile technician with a company van and tools provided.
• Participate in an out-of-hours standby rota with payments for standby, callouts and extra hours.
• Engage in a tailored training package and internal progression opportunities.
