Job Title: Mobile Mechanical Engineer
Location: York & surrounding area
Contract: Full-Time, Permanent (Mon-Fri, 40 hours/week + callout rota)
Are you a skilled Mechanical Engineer with a passion for delivering high-quality maintenance and engineering services? EQUANS is seeking a Mobile Mechanical Engineer to join our North East team supporting critical Central Government sites. You'll be a key player in maintaining and enhancing mechanical and electrical building services, ensuring all plant and equipment operate safely, reliably, and efficiently.
Perform planned and reactive maintenance on a wide range of mechanical and electrical building services, including Legionella control and basic plumbing.
Manage routine PPM tasks via CAFM systems (e.g., Maximo) and swiftly respond to breakdowns to minimize downtime.
Prepare and use Method Statements, Risk Assessments, and ensure compliance with health & safety policies.
Lead and supervise subcontractors to maintain quality and safety standards.
Maintain accurate documentation, plant logs, and complete relevant paperwork promptly.
Support out-of-hours callouts as part of a flexible rota.
Provide engineering support in emergency situations to ensure operational continuity.
Uphold EQUANS' professional image while delivering exceptional client service.
Minimum 5 years' experience as a Mechanical Engineer within a Facilities Management environment.
City & Guilds Mechanical Engineering Services NVQ Level 2 or higher.
Strong fault-finding, repair, and maintenance skills across mechanical and electrical plant.
Excellent communication skills, confident engaging with clients and internal teams.
Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
IT literate with experience using CAFM systems and report writing.
Full, clean UK driving license.
Commitment to health, safety, and environmental compliance.
Flexible attitude with willingness to undertake lone working and out-of-hours duties.
