Job summary
Thames Water in Esher is seeking an Instrumentation, Control & Automation technician for a mobile role across Surrey and West Sussex. You will install, commission, maintain and repair wastewater assets, working with SCADA, PLCs and process networks. Travel to multiple sites is required, with training and supervision of technical apprentices.
The role emphasizes safety, reliability and efficiency, offering standby, overtime and a strong benefits package. A full UK driving licence is essential.
Qualifications
- Qualified to HNC or NVQ 3 in instrumentation, control and automation or equivalent.
- Strong electrical background with BS7671 18th Edition preferred.
- Experience with relay logic, PLCs and fault finding from diagrams.
- Familiar with Wonderware and ClearSCADA is desirable.
- Full UK driving licence and ability to travel to multiple sites.
Responsibilities
- Installations, commissioning, maintenance and repairs of wastewater assets.
- Operate SCADA systems, PLCs and process control networks.
- Liaise with contractors and suppliers; supervise where needed.
- Investigate asset failures and implement rapid repairs to minimise downtime.
- Provide specialist technical advice and training for apprentices.
