Job summary

Wrexham County Borough Council is seeking a dynamic Housing Support Worker to assist older residents and maximise wellbeing in the community. The role is mobile, covering sheltered sites as needed, with induction and ongoing training provided.

An exciting opportunity has arisen in our Housing Support Team for someone wanting to make a real difference to the lives of older people in our communities. The team helps people to feel part of their community, to maximise their wellbeing, reduce isolation, promote independence and achieve personal goals.

The ideal candidate will be dynamic, self-motivated, appreciate the differences of others and strive to deliver a person-centred service. They will be able to work well as part of a team and on their own initiative when needed. They will be able to produce and follow support plans and break down barriers to ensure outcomes are achieved. They will be flexible in their approach and committed to making a positive difference.

The post is mobile and will involve providing cover at other sheltered sites in the County Borough when required. On occasions, it may involve working at other supported living sites.

Please note an enhanced DBS is required for the role.

The successful applicant will:

• Be qualified to NVQ level 2 or have relevant equivalent experience.
• Have a basic knowledge of housing, homelessness or community care law.
• Be passionate and committed to working with other colleagues, departments and agencies to ensure that the service is provided in a person centred, reliable and dignified manner.
• Meet the full requirements of the role as identified in the Job Description.

You will receive a comprehensive induction and training to support you in your role.
