Job summary

Auto Skills UK is recruiting an experienced HGV Technician for a 24/7 breakdown role in North London. You will perform servicing, maintenance and repairs on HGVs, diagnose faults and attend breakdowns, with a structured on-call rota.

The role offers a strong basic salary (£48k-£50k) with OTE around £65k and a mix of workshop and roadside work. Applicants should hold NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds and a full UK driving licence; HGV licence is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as an HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic.
• Strong mechanical and diagnostic skills.
• Experience with breakdown or roadside repairs is advantageous.
• Ability to diagnose faults and work independently.
• Good knowledge of HGV maintenance and repair.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out servicing, maintenance and repairs on HGVs.
• Diagnosing and rectifying mechanical and electrical faults.
• Attending HGV breakdowns and carrying out roadside repairs.
• Carrying out preventative maintenance to minimise vehicle downtime.
• Identifying faults and completing repairs efficiently.
• Ensuring vehicles are left safe and roadworthy.
• Completing accurate job sheets and maintenance records.
• Working safely and following all relevant health and safety procedures.
• Supporting the wider workshop team when required.
• Participating in a 1 week in 2 on-call rota.

Basic Salary: £48,000 to £50,000 basic

Hours: Monday-Friday | Flexible Start & Finish Times

On-Call: 1 week in every 2 weeks

What We’re Looking For
