Job summary

Kemp Recruitment Limited is seeking a Mobile HGV Technician based from home to cover Sheffield and surrounding areas. You will perform servicing, inspections and repairs on a range of heavy vehicles, often at customer sites, with the potential for door-to-door pay and overtime.

The role requires IRTEC/City & Guilds/NVQ qualifications, a full UK driving license, and willingness to travel. Training is provided, including office shadowing and site visits.

Qualifications

• Experience working on heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) and mobile servicing.
• Qualifications in heavies (City & Guilds, NVQ and/or IRTEC).
• Genuine willingness to travel and work on customer sites.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine servicing, inspections and repairs on commercial vehicles in and around Sheffield.
• Carry out checks and diagnose faults using manuals and diagnostic tools.
• Inspect accident-damaged machinery and prepare repair reports.
• Work on customer sites with or without workshop facilities.
• Be on-call roughly every 6–7 weeks.

Job Title: Mobile HGV Technician

Shift: Monday - Friday days

Location: Sheffield

Salary: £47,174 - £56,160 Basic (depending on qualifications) + Van, FC + Overtime (paid at 1.5X) OTE £60,000 - £65,000 +

Salaries reviewed once probation passed and also when IRTEC gained, my client will happily put you through your IRTEC. This role is paid door to door.

Due to increased business levels our specialist fleet maintenance company is looking to add an additional mobile HGV technician to the team. As a mobile HGV Technician / Mechanic / Fitter you will be based from home covering Sheffield and the surrounding area. Industry leading training is offered from day 1 to include 2 weeks in an office environment and 1 week shadowing with an existing mobile HGV Technician / Mechanic / Fitter.

Duties of the Mobile HGV Technician / Mechanic / Fitter

• Perform a variety of routine servicing, inspections and subsequent repairs to a variety of commercial vehicles in and around Sheffield
• Perform visual or operational checks to locate worn, dirty or maladjusted parts.
• Carry out technical inspections or use technical manuals and diagnostic techniques to find and repair inoperable or defective machine parts, components or systems using a small variety of test equipment.
• Will be required to undertake thorough inspections of accident damaged machines and produce accurate reports to enable repair.
• In this mobile HGV Technician/ Mechanic / Fitter role you will be working on customer sites with or without workshop facilities being available for use
• On call circa 1 in 6/7 weeks

Experience/skills required for the Mobile HGV Technician / Mechanic / Fitter

• Qualifications in heavies (City & Guilds, NVQ and / or IRTEC)
• Previous experience working on a range of heavy goods vehicles
• Any previous mobile HGV Technician / Mechanic / Fitter experience would be beneficial
• Any experience gained working on GSE would be an advantage
• Full UK valid driving licence as the role is mobile and paid door to door
• Be based in Sheffield
