Job summary

Kemp Recruitment is seeking a Mobile HGV Technician to service and repair a fleet of commercial vehicles from a home base in Swindon, covering Swindon and surrounding areas. The role includes training from day one, with 2 weeks in an office environment and 1 week shadowing a current technician.

You will work Monday–Friday days with overtime paid at 1.5x and a company van supplied. IRTEC qualifications are preferred though time served will be considered, and a full UK driving licence is required.

Qualifications

• Experience driving and maintaining heavy goods vehicles is essential.
• IRTEC/City & Guilds/NVQ qualifications preferred.
• Full UK driving licence required; be based in Swindon and available for mobile duties.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine servicing, inspections and repairs on commercial vehicles in and around Swindon.
• Carry out checks and locate worn or faulty parts using technical manuals and test equipment.
• Undertake inspections of accident-damaged machines and prepare repair reports.
• Work on customer sites with or without workshop facilities available.
• On-call approximately every 6–7 weeks.

Salary: £52,416 - £56,1160 (depending on qualifications) + Van, FC + Overtime (paid at 1.5X) OTE £65,000 +

Due to increased business levels our specialist fleet maintenance company is looking to add an additional Mobile HGV Technician / Mobile HGV Mechanic / Mobile HGV Fitter / Mobile HGV Engineer to the team in the Swindon area.
As a Mobile HGV Technician / Mobile HGV Mechanic / Mobile HGV Fitter / Mobile HGV Engineer you will be based from home covering Swindon and the surrounding area. Industry leading product training is offered from day 1 to include 2 weeks in an office environment and 1 week shadowing with an existing Mobile HGV Technician / Mobile HGV Mechanic / Mobile HGV Fitter / Mobile HGV Engineer

Duties of the Mobile HGV Technician / Mobile HGV Mechanic / Mobile HGV Fitter / Mobile HGV Engineer

• Perform a variety of routine servicing, inspections and subsequent repairs to a variety of commercial vehicles in and around the Swindon
• Perform visual or operational checks to locate worn, dirty or maladjusted parts.
• Carry out technical inspections or use technical manuals and diagnostic techniques to find and repair inoperable or defective machine parts, components or systems using a small variety of test equipment.
• Will be required to undertake thorough inspections of accident damaged machines and produce accurate reports to enable repair.
• In this Mobile HGV Technician / Mobile HGV Mechanic / Mobile HGV Fitter / Mobile HGV Engineer you will be working on customer sites with or without workshop facilities being available for use
• On call circa 1 in 6/7 weeks

Experience/skills required for the Mobile HGV Technician / Mobile HGV Mechanic / Mobile HGV Fitter / Mobile HGV Engineer

• Qualifications in heavies (City & Guilds, NVQ and / or IRTEC) are preferred but time served will be considered
• Previous experience working on a range of heavy goods vehicles is essential
• Any previous Mobile HGV Technician / Mobile HGV Mechanic / Mobile HGV Fitter / Mobile HGV Engineer experience would be beneficial
• Any experience gained working on GSE would be an advantage
• Full UK valid driving licence as the role is mobile paid door to door
• Be based in Swindon
