Job summary

Auto Skills UK is seeking an experienced Mobile HGV Mechanic to service and repair trucks and trailers in a dynamic, road-based role. The position covers mobile duties with a fully equipped workshop setup and a strong emphasis on safe, roadworthy vehicles.

You will diagnose faults, perform preventative maintenance, and carry out trailer repairs with a focus on first-time fixes and professional customer service. A Full UK Driving Licence and relevant NVQ/City & Guilds are required.

Qualifications

• Experience servicing and maintenance of HGVs and trailers.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
• Full UK Driving Licence is essential.
• NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds or equivalent qualification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Servicing and preventative maintenance on HGVs and trailers.
• Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical and braking faults.
• Carrying out trailer repairs.
• Attending roadside breakdowns when required.
• Preparing vehicles for MOT and ensuring compliance.
• Using modern diagnostic equipment to identify and rectify faults.
• Completing accurate service and repair records.
• Providing excellent customer service and representing the business professionally.

Salary: £50,000-£60,000 depending on experience

Hours: 45 hours per week + overtime

Contract: Permanent

The Role

Every day is different. You will be responsible for keeping HGVs and trailers safe, reliable and roadworthy, including:

About You

We're looking for an experienced HGV Mechanic who has:

• Previous experience working on HGV trucks and trailers
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
• Experience with trailer repairs
• NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent qualification preferred
• Full UK Driving Licence
• Ability to work independently and manage your own workload
• A positive attitude and pride in your workmanship
• A strong focus on getting the job right first time
