Job summary

Royal Mail is recruiting a Mobile Gas Engineer for Enfield, with full-time hours and a company van provided to cover a defined area. You will diagnose, maintain and install gas, hot & Cold Water systems, and liaise with customers to ensure smooth project delivery.

Qualifications

• Must hold Domestic and Commercial gas qualification/certification (CCN1 or CODNCO1) and be Gas Safe registered.
• Gas Safe accreditation in commercial gas modules: CIGA1, CORT1, CENWAT, TPCP1A.
• Full UK manual driving licence; van provided for travel within area.
• Strong health and safety knowledge and problem-solving skills; 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations.

Responsibilities

• Provide diagnosis and solutions for Gas and Hot & Cold Water systems; perform maintenance checks.
• Fault finding, maintenance, repair, and installation of gas and associated systems.
• Liaise with customers and keep them informed; manage workload effectively.
• Carry out basic plumbing tasks (replacing taps, sinks, cisterns, heating elements).

We are currently recruiting for a Mobile Gas Engineer. Job reference number 341846.

Salary:

• £44,551.95 plus London allowance of £3,202.24 per annum plus standby allowance c£290 per week, when on rota, and appropriate overtime rate when attending the call, 22.5 days annual leave, rising to 25 after 5 years' service plus bank holidays. Contract: Fixed Term 12 months, Full time 37.5 hours per week (excluding meal breaks)
• Typical attendance will be 08:00 until 16:00 Monday to Friday; however, flexibility is essential. You will be required to join an out of hours callout rota 1 in 4 weeks covering a wider area.

You will cover postcodes: (NN) Northampton, (MK) Milton Keynes, (HP) Hemel Hempstead, (WD) Watford, (EN) Enfield and (AL) St Albans. Flexibility is key - you'll be working across multiple sites within a defined area, and a company vehicle will be provided to support your travel. Your excellent communication skills will help you build strong relationships with both customers and managers, keeping everyone informed and aligned. Strong organisational skills will also be essential to manage your workload effectively and ensure smooth project delivery.

A bit about the role

As a Mobile Gas Engineer, you'll provide technical diagnosis and solutions, performing routine maintenance checks in relation to Gas and Hot & Cold Water systems along with some electrical maintenance. You'll perform fault finding, maintenance, repair and installation of these systems and will regularly liaise with customers. You will carry out basic plumbing tasks, including replacing taps, sinks, cistern flush units, and heating elements.

A bit about you

• Must hold both Domestic and Commercial gas qualification/certification either CCN1 or CODNCO1 and must be a Gas Safe registered Gas engineer
• Qualified and accredited by Gas Safe in commercial gas modules to include CIGA1, CORT1, CENWAT and TPCP1A
• Basic Plumbing experience
• Experience maintaining gas equipment / pipe work and hot and cold water systems
• Fault-finding and diagnostic experience with strong problem-solving skills
• Strong understanding of health & safety and Gas Safe regulations
• 18th Edition of the IET Wiring Regulations
• Basic IT literacy and confident using digital job management systems
• Experience of completing job certificates in an electronic format
• Full UK manual Driving Licence is required, as this vacancy will involve travel within a specified area for which a van will be provided.
• Demonstrable experience of liaising with customers
• Ability to work independently and manage your own workload effectively
