Job summary

Equans is seeking a Mobile Electrical Engineer to join our Birmingham Schools contract on a permanent basis. The role covers multiple school sites and healthcare properties, with a 37.5 hour week.

The role includes on‑call duties, repairs, Planned Preventative Maintenance, minor installations and ensuring safety compliance. A DBS check is required; Equans supports development and a diverse, inclusive workplace.

Qualifications

• Post-apprenticeship experience in electrical maintenance/building services.
• Qualified to City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation/Maintenance.
• Strong knowledge of LV distribution, emergency lighting and associated safety systems.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, fault-find and repair complex electrical systems.
• Deliver Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) across electrical building services.
• Carry out minor electrical installations, upgrades and adaptations.
• Respond to reactive maintenance to minimise disruption and penalties.
• Work on emergency lighting, distribution boards and related equipment.
• Resolve faults promptly to maintain safe operation.
• Identify spare parts and provide timescales for remedial works.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and CAFM updates.
• Achieve Electrical Approved Person status.
