Job summary

Dorothy House Hospice Care in Warminster is seeking a Mobile Deputy Shop Manager to support the Shop Manager teams across the area. This full‑time role (37.5 hours per week, 5 days out of 7 with some weekend work) offers a salary of £24,970 per annum plus an annual bonus scheme.

You will help create a welcoming customer experience, lead volunteers, assist with training, stock sorting and presentation, and deputise for the Shop Manager when needed.

Responsibilities

• Support the Shop Manager in day-to-day shop operations and create a welcoming environment for customers and donors.
• Act as customer champion, using initiative to improve the retail experience.
• Maintain high standards on shop floor and backstage areas; support volunteers for a positive shopper experience.
• Motivate and engage volunteers, helping them feel valued and supported.
• Assist training of volunteers to prepare goods for sale and maintain presentation.
• Assist with sorting, pricing and presentation of donated stock to create an appealing shop.
• Deputise for Shop Manager when required and support recruitment and onboarding of volunteers.

WHAT WILL THE ROLE INVOLVE?

• Supporting the Shop Manager in the day‑to‑day running of the shop and creating a warm, welcoming environment for customers and donors

• Helping to deliver high standards across both the shop floor and backstage areas, supporting volunteers to ensure every shopper has a positive experience
• Supporting, motivating and engaging our volunteer team, helping them to feel confident, valued and well supported
• Assisting with the training of volunteers, ensuring they are equipped to prepare goods for sale, provide excellent customer service, and uphold high standards of cleanliness and presentation
• Assisting with the sorting, pricing and presentation of donated stock to create an appealing shopping environment
• Deputising for the Shop Manager when required, ensuring the smooth and safe operation of the shop
• Supporting the recruitment and onboarding of new volunteers

ABOUT YOU

This role is physically demanding and requires regular lifting, moving stock, and being on your feet for extended periods. While full manual handling training will be provided and we commit to considering reasonable adjustments, applicants should be aware that the core duties of this role require a high level of physical activity.

Essential requirements:

• Demonstrates a good standard of Maths and English
• Is an excellent team player with a passion for people skills
• Demonstrates good prioritisation and organisational skills
• Demonstrates a positive, energetic and customer focused approach

Desirable requirements:

• Experience working in Retail or Charity Shop
• Previous leadership or supervisory experience
• Full UK driving licence with access to a vehicle
