Job summary

Randstad Construction and Property is seeking a Mobile Commercial Gas Engineer to service public sector sites across North East Scotland. You’ll perform PPM, reactive repairs, and minor installations on commercial gas, heating, and HVAC systems.

Role offers long-term security with a company van, 25 days’ leave plus bank holidays, pension and overtime opportunities. UK-wide travel may be required to cover regional sites.

Qualifications

• Must hold commercial gas certifications listed (COCN1/CODNC1, TPCP1A, ICPN1, CORT1, CIGA1).
• Must hold domestic gas certifications (CCN1, CENWAT1, CPA1).
• City & Guilds/NVQ Level 2/3 in Plumbing, HVAC or Mechanical Engineering desired.

Responsibilities

• Execute planned preventive maintenance, reactive repairs and fault finding on gas, heating and HVAC systems.
• Carry out new installations and minor/major repairs on client gas infrastructure with safety standards compliance.
• Support regional maintenance tasks across sites and participate in out-of-hours call-out rota.
• Ensure work meets Gas Safe standards and maintain accurate documentation.

Job description

Role Summary

Randstad C&P are working with a leading FM client who are seeking an experienced Mobile Commercial Gas Engineer to join their established team covering public sector commercial sites across North East Scotland. In this role, you will deliver planned preventive maintenance (PPM), reactive repairs, and minor installation work across commercial combustion, heating, and HVAC systems.

This position offers high job security on long-term public sector contracts, clear operational structure, excellent overtime earnings potential, and a fully equipped company van available for personal use.

Package

• Full-time Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 17:00, totalling 41.25 hours per week.
• Competitive base salary ranging between £43,500 and £51,200 per annum, depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute planned preventive maintenance, reactive repairs, and fault finding on commercial gas, heating, and HVAC systems.
• Carry out new installations and major or minor repairs on client gas infrastructure in full compliance with safety standards.
• Support wider mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, and building fabric maintenance tasks across regional sites as required.
• Participate in the regional out-of-hours call-out rota to ensure rapid response to emergency requests.
• Ensure all work meets Gas Safe standards, update PDAs accurately, and maintain full statutory compliance on client sites.

Candidate Requirements

• Hold essential commercial gas certifications including COCN1 or CODNC1, TPCP1A, ICPN1, CORT1, and CIGA1.
• Hold essential domestic gas certifications including CCN1, CENWAT1, and CPA1.
• Possess a City & Guilds or NVQ Level 2/3 in Plumbing, HVAC, or Mechanical Engineering.
• Maintain active Gas Safe Registration or possess eligibility for an immediate transfer.
• Hold a full UK Driving License.
• Demonstrate a proven background in commercial gas and HVAC maintenance within facilities management environments.
• Show expertise in complex mechanical fault finding, routine servicing, and system upgrades.
• Hold valid IPAF and PASMA cards, or be willing to complete refreshers provided by the company.
• Successfully pass standard BPSS clearance with clear work history and UK Right to Work proof.
• Candidates must be eligible to live and work in the UK.
