Job summary

Equans UK & Ireland is seeking a Mobile Combustion Engineer to support the Midlands contract. The role covers Birmingham, Stoke-on-Trent and surrounding areas on a permanent basis with a 40-hour week and on-call rota.

You will work on commercial and domestic gas equipment, ensuring paperwork is completed and CAFM systems are updated in real time. Applicants should hold CCN1 and COCN1 qualifications, plus CPA1 and CENWAT where applicable.

Qualifications

  • A recognised industry qualification will be required, and previous experience is essential.
  • CCN1: Core Domestic Gas Safety (mandatory for domestic work).
  • COCN1: Core Commercial Gas Safety (mandatory for commercial work).
  • CPA1: Combustion Performance Analysis (often bundled with core).
  • Domestic (Natural Gas): CENWAT (boilers).
  • Commercial/Industrial: CODNCO1 (domestic to commercial switch).
  • CIGA1/CDGA1: (commercial appliances), ICPN1.
  • BMP1: Gas boosters Medium pressure.
  • CCP1: Commission of commercial plant.
  • CDGA1: Commission, Service Direct Fired Heaters.
  • C&G Level 3 Plumbing.

Responsibilities

  • Work on equipment including boilers and gas-related systems across sites within the Midlands contract.
  • Cover sites in West Midlands including Birmingham and Stoke-on-Trent and surrounding areas.
  • Complete PPM, reactive and breakdown paperwork promptly for the contract administrator.
  • Complete supplementary documentation / E-Forms as directed by line manager.
  • Update CAFM system with start/wait/stop times and full work descriptions.
  • Identify and record plant failures and communicate needed follow-up actions.
  • Take part in the on-call rota.

Job description

Equans is looking for a Mobile Combustion Engineer to join our team working across the Midlands on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary, company vehicle and benefits package.

The role is working on our Midlands Mobile contract. The majority of the work will be based in the West Midlands covering Birmingham and Stoke-on-Trent but it will also cover other parts of the Midlands.

What will you deliver?
  • Working on the following equipment but not limited to; Commercial Boilers, Associated Gas Equipment, Gas Fire Radiant Heaters, Water Heaters, Control valves, D omestic Boilers
  • Cover numerous sites that fall within the contract such as Stoke Schools and Guide Dogs
  • Ensure that all relevant paperwork is completed regarding PPM, reactive and breakdown works and that it is passed without delay to the contract administrator
  • Complete supplementary documentation / E-Forms relating to the maintenance task as dictated by your line manager
  • Update customers CAFM system in real time with start/wait/stop completion times and provide full description of works undertaken, advising of any follow-on works required
  • Ensure reactive tasks throughout the sites are completed and be proactive in highlighting areas where improvements can be made. Identify and record all plant failures using quotation forms and issue to line manager. This is to be indicated and recorded within the CAFM system
  • Take part in the on call rota

This role includes a DBS Enhanced with Barred Lists check therefore ability to pass is essential.
