Job summary

DCS Recruitment is seeking a Field Maintenance HVAC Engineer in Reading. This mobile role covers the surrounding region and focuses on servicing, maintaining and repairing commercial HVAC and air conditioning systems across multiple sites.

You will carry out PPM, fault finding and reactive maintenance, manage your workload, and report on service activities, with on-call duties and a generous overtime arrangement.

Qualifications

• Experience as HVAC Engineer, Air Conditioning Engineer or Field Service Engineer.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• Experience in mobile maintenance/service environments.

Responsibilities

• Service, maintain and repair commercial HVAC and air conditioning systems.
• Complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance.
• Diagnose faults and carry out repairs efficiently.

Field Maintenance HVAC Engineer

Location: Reading (Mobile role covering the surrounding region)
Salary: £41,000 – £44,000 + Company Vehicle + On-call Allowance + Overtime

The Opportunity

We’re recruiting on behalf of a leading facilities management organisation for a Field Maintenance HVAC Engineer to join their growing team. This is a mobile role covering a portfolio of large retail sites throughout the Reading region, where you’ll be responsible for ensuring HVAC and air conditioning systems remain safe, compliant and operating efficiently.

The Role

Working independently across multiple sites, you’ll carry out planned preventative maintenance, servicing, fault finding and reactive repairs on a range of commercial HVAC and air conditioning systems. You’ll manage your own workload while providing an excellent level of service to customers and ensuring all work is completed safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Service, maintain and repair commercial HVAC and air conditioning systems.

• Complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance.

• Diagnose faults and carry out repairs efficiently.

• Work on split systems, VRF/VRV systems and packaged units.

• Maintain equipment including Airedale and DX Cooling systems.

• Complete service reports, compliance documentation and maintenance records.

• Support wider building maintenance activities where required.

• Liaise professionally with customers and internal teams.

• Participate in the regional on-call rota.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience working as an HVAC Engineer, Air Conditioning Engineer or Field Service Engineer.

• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.

• Experience working within a mobile maintenance or service environment.

• Good understanding of health and safety and compliance requirements.

• Ability to work independently and manage your own workload.

• Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable Experience

• NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning.

• Experience within Facilities Management or Retail Maintenance.

• Manufacturer training or experience with Airedale, DX Cooling or similar equipment.

• Multi-skilled background including electrical, gas or general building maintenance.

• F-Gas certification would be advantageous.
