Job summary

Allied Mills in Manchester is seeking a Maintenance Technician (Mechanical Bias) to join an experienced team at our flour mill. You will perform planned, predictive and reactive maintenance on plant equipment, following safety and quality standards, and carry out repairs to keep production running efficiently.

The right candidate will have at least 5 years as a maintenance engineer in an operational FMCG setting, with an engineering apprenticeship and City & Guilds Level 3 NVQ, plus hands-on

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years experience as a maintenance engineer in an operational environment (preferably FMCG).
• Completion of an engineering apprenticeship/traineeship with City and Guilds Level 3 NVQ or equivalent.
• Experience with mechanical and electrical industrial systems.
• Experience replacing drive couplings, chains, belts and conveyors.
• Replacement and care of rolling element bearings; knowledge of compressed air and pneumatic control systems.

Responsibilities

• Operate to procedures within site quality, environmental and health and safety systems.
• Contribute to continual plant improvement across departments/sites.
• Maintain engineering safety on site.
• Assist with monitoring external contractors on site and site rules.
• Carry out daily monitoring inspections and self-audits on a weekly rota.
• Lead small to medium projects and site process improvements.
• Use Maximo to record labour/materials and carry out PPM/PdM.
• Carry out repairs to plant equipment and services promptly.
• Participate in the maintenance call-out program.
• Analyse and rectify defects using RCA where applicable.
