Job summary

Thurston Group in Catfoss, Driffield, East Yorkshire, is looking for an experienced MIG Welder/Fabricator to join a busy manufacturing site that produces modular buildings and steel components. You will weld and fabricate structural frames, reading drawings to exacting standards.

The role is full-time, workshop-based, with varied projects and opportunities to work on different modular construction projects.

Qualifications

• Experience as MIG Welder/Fabricator.
• Experience with mild and structural steel.
• Ability to read and work from engineering drawings.
• Experience fabricating steel frames and assemblies.
• NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent in Welding and Fabrication.
• Overhead crane or forklift experience.

Responsibilities

• Carry out MIG/MAG welding on mild and structural steel.
• Fabricate and assemble structural steel frames, chassis and components.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and fabrication specifications.
• Measure, cut, prepare and fit steel sections accurately.
• Operate fabrication equipment, including grinders and cutting machinery.
• Inspect completed welds and assemblies to ensure quality standards are met.
• Work efficiently to production schedules while following health and safety procedures.

TK Recruitment is currently recruiting experienced MIG Welder/Fabricators on behalf of Thurston Group, an established manufacturer specialising in modular buildings and off-site construction.

This is an opportunity for skilled fabricators to join a busy manufacturing environment, producing structural steel frames and components used in modular building construction.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out MIG/MAG welding on mild and structural steel.
• Fabricate and assemble structural steel frames, chassis and components.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and fabrication specifications.

Essential Requirements

• Previous experience as a MIG Welder/Fabricator.
• Strong experience working with mild and structural steel.
• Ability to read and work independently from engineering drawings.
• Experience fabricating steel frames and assemblies.
• Good understanding of welding and fabrication techniques.
• Ability to work accurately in a workshop environment.

Desirable Experience

• Previous experience in structural steel fabrication.
• Experience manufacturing modular buildings, steel chassis or similar structures.
• NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent in Welding and Fabrication.
• Overhead crane or forklift experience.

Salary & Benefits
