Job summary

AWD online is seeking an Area Sales Manager / Business Development Manager to grow a Midlands territory through consultative selling, new business and account development. You will coordinate product trials, build proposals and convert technical challenges into commercial opportunities.

You will own established accounts and pursue new prospects, strengthening customer relationships and aligning needs with internal R&D and manufacturing expertise.

Qualifications

• Experience selling technical consumables, coated abrasives or similar industrial products.
• Strong understanding of surface roughness parameters (Ra, Rz, Rt) and abrasive mechanics.
• Established Midlands OEM and manufacturing networks.
• Commercial acumen with complex enterprise sales and multi-level stakeholders.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the Midlands.
• CRM and MS Office proficiency.

Responsibilities

• New Business Development: identify high-value opportunities across Midlands manufacturing and precision engineering markets.
• Strategic Account Growth: manage existing accounts and uncover opportunities across departments and production lines.
• Technical Product Trials: secure and run on-site trials to demonstrate abrasive performance.
• Value-Based Selling: develop Total Cost of Ownership and Value-in-Use cases.
• Technical Consultancy: advise on surface integrity and finishing solutions.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: connect customer requirements with R&D and manufacturing.
• CRM Management and Sales Reporting: maintain records and report activity.
