Job summary

St Elizabeth's Centre in Much Hadham, Hertfordshire, is seeking a Midday Assistant to support pupils aged 5–16 during lunchtime. You will help supervise, assist with meals, and foster a safe, inclusive environment across dining halls and nearby spaces.

No prior school or care experience is required; full training is provided. Term-time hours are 11:00am–2:00pm, Monday to Friday (39 weeks) with a salary of £8,512 annually (£12.71 per hour).

• Help manage behaviours calmly and appropriately, following student care plans.
• Assist with setting up and tidying dining areas before and after service.
• Ensure a safe, clean, and nurturing environment for all pupils during break times.

As a Midday Assistant, you'll help make those moments possible.

This is more than a lunchtime supervision role

You'll be part of our specialist School in Much Hadham, supporting children and young people aged 5-16 with complex learning and additional needs.

You'll get to know our students as individuals and understand the support they need to have a positive and enjoyable lunchtime.

Working alongside teachers, care staff and other professionals, you'll help create a calm, safe and welcoming environment across the dining hall, classrooms and outdoor spaces.

No two lunchtimes will be quite the same. you could be helping a student with their meal, encouraging positive play, supporting communication and social interaction, or providing reassurance during a change in routine.

Sometimes it's the smallest moments that make the biggest difference.
