Mid Market Senior Underwriter

A bit about the job:

In this role, you will oversee the underwriting and financial performance of your team in line with Aviva’s strategy. You will support oversight and trading decisions on larger and more complex cases. You will engage with brokers to build and support strong trading relationships, perform data analysis, and work on your own development.

You will act as a referral point for the team handling complex technical referrals and queries, consulting with the branch underwriting manager, line leads, and solutions teams where appropriate. You will support technical development through audits, reviews, and evaluating for license progressions, as well as day-to-day coaching.

You will support the implementation of changes within the team to policies and processes. Keep up to date with market and insurance trends and share this knowledge with your team to ensure they are informed.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

Expert knowledge of Insurance and Commercial underwriting, with experience in property & liability essential.

Excellent communication, listening, time management, and negotiating skills, along with coaching and mentoring abilities to develop your team’s decision-making skills.

Ability to analyze risks and communicate effectively with brokers and customers.

Familiarity with applying underwriting knowledge to improve processes and procedures, managing your own caseload within a regulatory environment.

Strong business development and customer engagement skills to influence key contacts in the marketplace.
