Job summary

Lawes Consulting Group seeks a New Business Senior Underwriter in Property & Liability (Mid Market) for its Glasgow branch. You will manage profitability, influence the underwriting team, and build strong broker/internal stakeholder relationships to drive growth.

The role focuses on larger Mid-Market and Mid-Corporate risks, working with Trading Underwriters to price and word policies, and leading large case management for new business. Hybrid working in Glasgow is offered.

Qualifications

• Technical property and liability underwriting expertise in a commercial environment.
• Sound understanding of the Scottish insurance market.
• Proven decision-making across a range of technical commercial underwriting scenarios.
• Coaching and development skills with a track record of delivering results within a team.

Responsibilities

• Act as the face of the business when presenting propositions for larger Mid-Market and Mid-Corporate risks.
• Negotiate cover, wordings and pricing with Trading Underwriters to meet customer needs.
• Build and manage a strong pipeline of Mid-Market and Mid-Corporate opportunities via broker/client relationships.
• Lead and embed the large case management process for new business.
• Develop broker/client relationships across the region to generate profitable, self-sourced business.
• Underwrite profitable new business within established controls; act as referral point for new business.
• Develop and maintain a distribution strategy and communication plan with key brokers to hit KPIs.
• Handle new business cases between £40,000 and £150,000 GWP.
