Job summary

Oscar, a technology business based in Blackpool, Lancashire, is hiring a full-time, permanent hybrid Software Engineer to join the Development team. You will work on large, data-heavy projects and build reliable systems that turn complex information into valuable insights.

The role focuses on PHP 8, Laravel or Symfony, MySQL, and modern frontend tech (HTML, CSS, Tailwind, JavaScript, Alpine.js, Vue.js). A collaborative environment and strong emphasis on code quality are offered.

Qualifications

• Commercial experience developing applications with PHP.
• Good knowledge of Laravel and/or Symfony.
• Strong experience working with MySQL.
• Good knowledge of HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
• Experience with Tailwind CSS and/or Alpine.js / Vue.js.
• Experience using Git and modern development practices.
• A methodical approach to troubleshooting and problem-solving.
• An understanding of writing clean, maintainable and reliable code.
• Experience working with large datasets, analytics platforms, APIs or data-heavy applications would be highly advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Developing and maintaining web applications using PHP 8, Laravel and/or Symfony.
• Working with MySQL and large, complex datasets.
• Designing and developing new features and functionality.
• Building intuitive and engaging interfaces using HTML, CSS, Tailwind and JavaScript.
• Working with JavaScript technologies such as Alpine.js and Vue.js.
• Integrating APIs and working with a variety of data sources.
• Troubleshooting, debugging and resolving technical and data-related issues.
• Improving application performance, reliability and scalability.
• Working with Git and modern development workflows.

Job description

We are an established and growing technology business based in Blackpool, Lancashire, offering a full-time, permanent hybrid role with 2 days in the office and 3 days working from home. We provide a salary of 40,000-50,000 per annum, depending on experience, along with 28 days holiday including bank holidays, free on-site parking, a Cycle to Work Scheme, a Tech Scheme, company social events, and a collaborative and supportive working environment.
