Job summary

Summer-Browning Associates is currently supporting our central government client with a 12-month assignment for a Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator in East Kilbride, hybrid with 60% onsite. The ideal candidate will hold an active security clearance and bring proven expertise in SQL Server 2019, Always-On availability groups, log shipping, PowerShell automation, and enterprise-scale HA/DR.

You will implement security controls, manage patches, and ensure TLS encryption across SQL Server

Qualifications

• Proven expertise in installing, configuring, and administering Microsoft SQL Server 2019.
• Experience developing and maintaining PowerShell scripts for automation.
• Extensive HA/DR experience, including Always-On and cluster environments.
• Experience with Log Shipping for disaster recovery.
• Knowledge of SQL Server security best practices, RBAC, AD integration.
• TLS/SSL certificates and encryption for SQL Server communications.

Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator | SQL DBA
Summer-Browning Associates is currently supporting our central government client, who is seeking a Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator for an initial 12-month assignment with the option to extend.
Location: East Kilbride (Glasgow) | Hybrid 60% onsite

The ideal candidate will have an active security clearance and a proven background in Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator, with experience supporting and maintaining enterprise-scale SQL Server environments

Skills and Experience:

• Proven expertise in installing, configuring, and administering Microsoft SQL Server 2019, complemented by proficiencies in T-SQL development and troubleshooting.
• Experience in the development and maintenance of PowerShell scripts for purposes of automation and administration.
• Comprehensive understanding of SQL Server High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions.
• Practical experience with SQL Server Always-On Availability Groups and clustered environments.
• Proficiency in implementing and managing Log Shipping solutions as a means of disaster recovery.
• Familiarity with the application of SQL Server Service Packs (SPs), Cumulative Updates (CUs), and Windows security patches.
• Strong knowledge of SQL Server security best practices, encompassing Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), Active Directory integration, and the management of security groups.
• Understanding of TLS/SSL certificates and encryption technologies used to secure SQL Server communications and endpoints.
