Job summary

Ports North is seeking a proven SQL Database Administrator for a 6-month contract in London, working in a hybrid model with 2 days onsite per week.

The role offers a pay rate of £600 per day and requires strong experience with SQL Server, Always On, SSRS/SSIS/SSAS, and related infrastructure processes.

Qualifications

• Windows clustering and HADR technologies.
• Experience in administering and deploying SSRS, SSIS and SSAS.
• Strong experience with Always On Availability Groups.
• SQL Server 2016 to 2025 proficiency and Windows server versions.
• Experience in virtualised SQL servers and VMware environments.
• Proficient with PowerShell and Power BI automations.
• Familiar with SQL upgrades and change/incident management processes.
• Experience with BMC Remedy/Helix.

Responsibilities

• Build SQL Databases using client standard SQL builds.
• Coordinate with Infra and Security teams to complete build process.
• Perform QA checks on new SQL Databases.
• Backups and restores of SQL databases.
• Remediate issues post build or transformation.
• Decommission redundant SQL databases.
• Support migrations to new infrastructure and data centres.

Job description

We are looking for a proven SQL Database Administrator to join our client (Financial Services) on a 6-month initial contract, working in a hybrid model: 2 days onsite each week at the London office.

This position is operating inside IR35, and will have a pay rate of approx. £600 per day

Responsibilities

• Building SQL Databases using the client's Standard SQL builds
• Coordinating with other Infrastructure and Security teams to ensure the SQL Database build process is completed successfully
• Performing Quality Assurance check on new SQL Databases
• Performing Backups and Restores of SQL Databases
• Remediating any issues that are found post build or post transformation
• Performing decommissioning of redundant SQL Databases
• Support Application Migrations to new infrastructure and Data Centres

Required Experience

• Windows Clustering and other HADR technologies

• Substantial experience of Always On Availability Groups
• Substantial experience of SQL 2016 to SQL 2025
