Job summary

Public Health Wales Microbiology at University Hospital Llandough is seeking a Band 4 Associate Practitioner to support routine lab workflows. You will rotate through sections to gain molecular science experience and contribute to microbiological diagnostics, with data entry into the LIS and supervision as required.

The role involves 24/7 shift patterns across the main base and other sites, enhancing outbreak response capability and winter pressures planning.

Qualifications

• Recent microbiology laboratory experience required.
• Science qualification or equivalent experience required.
• IBMS certificates acceptable where relevant.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine laboratory procedures under supervision.
• Prepare, check and process samples.
• Enter data into the laboratory information system.
• Rotate through laboratory sections to gain molecular science and microbiological diagnostic experience.
• Support the team’s response to outbreaks and winter pressures.
• Work 24/7 shift patterns at the main base or other sites when needed.
