Job summary

Sulzer York facility invites a Metal Spray Operator to join our specialist coatings team. You will prepare components, apply thermal spray coatings, and operate robotic equipment to meet safety, quality, and delivery goals.

Ideal candidates have engineering/manufacturing experience, a strong safety mindset, and read engineering drawings. A UK driving licence and apprenticeship or engineering qualification are advantageous.

• Essential engineering or manufacturing experience.
• Strong focus on health, safety and quality.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Desirable thermal spray experience.
• Metrology experience.
• Robot control experience.
• Engineering qualification and/or completed apprenticeship.
• Experience reading engineering drawings.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Preparing customer components for coating, including cleaning, masking and blasting.
• Applying thermal spray coatings using HVOF, Plasma and Wire Spray processes.
• Operating semi-automatic and robotic equipment safely and efficiently.
• Conducting goods-in and in-process inspections.
• Reading engineering drawings and following process documentation.
• Managing powders, jigs and fixtures to support production requirements.
• Maintaining high standards of safety, quality and housekeeping.
• Working collaboratively with colleagues to meet customer delivery and quality expectations.
