Job summary

Sulzer Leeds is seeking a time-served Mechanical Fitter to assemble and fit complex centrifugal pump assemblies in line with engineering drawings, specifications and quality standards. You will conduct bearing installation, shaft assembly, impeller fitting and seal installation to complete the final pump build.

You will read technical documentation, use precision measuring equipment to verify dimensions and tolerances, and apply correct assembly techniques in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • Time-served Mechanical Fitter with an engineering apprenticeship.
  • Experience assembling rotating equipment such as pumps, compressors, gearboxes, turbines or similar precision-engineered machinery.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Proficient with hand tools, mechanical assembly equipment and precision measuring instruments.

Key Duties

What We're Looking For
  • Time-served Mechanical Fitter, Mechanical Assembly Technician, or equivalent mechanical engineering apprenticeship.
  • Experience assembling rotating equipment such as pumps, compressors, gearboxes, turbines or similar precision-engineered machinery.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Skilled in the use of hand tools, mechanical assembly equipment and precision measuring instruments.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical tolerances, fits, alignments and assembly techniques.
  • Experience working within a manufacturing, engineering or heavy industrial environment.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving with excellent attention to detail.
