Job summary

Auto Skills UK are seeking an experienced MET Technician / Strip Fitter to join their busy Poole workshop. You will dismantle, repair and reassemble accident-damaged vehicles to manufacturer specifications in a modern, fully equipped facility.

The role is full-time, Monday to Friday, 9:00am–6:00pm, with a £35,000 basic salary and ongoing training opportunities. A stable employer and long-term career prospects are on offer.

Qualifications

• Previous MET Technician/Strip Fitter experience in a busy bodyshop.
• Recognised apprenticeship or equivalent qualification (NVQ/VCQ/SVQ/ATA).
• Excellent knowledge of modern vehicle repair techniques.

Responsibilities

• Strip and refit mechanical, electrical and trim components on accident-damaged vehicles.
• Carry out repairs using manufacturer-approved methods.
• Diagnose and rectify mechanical and electrical faults.
• Ensure repairs meet high quality standards.
• Work in a busy, fast-paced accident repair centre.
• Collaborate with other bodyshop staff to maintain efficient repairs.
• Maintain a clean, safe working environment.

The Role

As an MET Technician / Strip Fitter, you'll be responsible for dismantling, repairing and reassembling accident‑damaged vehicles to manufacturer specifications. You'll play a key role in ensuring every repair is completed safely, efficiently and to the highest possible standard.

Your Responsibilities

• Strip and refit mechanical, electrical and trim components on accident‑damaged vehicles.
• Carry out repairs using manufacturer‑approved repair methods.
• Diagnose and rectify mechanical and electrical faults where required.
• Ensure all repairs are completed to the highest quality standards.
• Work efficiently within a busy, fast‑paced accident repair centre.
• Collaborate with Panel Beaters and Paint Sprayers to maintain an efficient repair process.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.

What We’re Looking For

• Previous experience as an MET Technician, Strip Fitter or Bodyshop Technician within a busy accident repair centre.
• Recognised apprenticeship with an NVQ, VCQ, SVQ, ATA or equivalent qualification.
• Excellent knowledge of modern vehicle repair techniques.
• Strong mechanical and electrical diagnostic skills.
• High attention to detail with pride in producing quality workmanship.
• Self‑motivated with a positive attitude and excellent team‑working skills.
• Ability to work efficiently while maintaining exceptional standards.
