Centrica’s Group M&A team leads the origination and execution of M&A activities for Centrica plc. Supported by a strong balance sheet, M&A is key to our growth strategy, deploying significant cash towards value-adding inorganic growth in our core markets.

The team maintains dialogue with market participants to gather intelligence and identify business opportunities. It is highly regarded within Centrica and often advises Executive Management and Business Units on strategic options.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Collaborating with senior team members, Business Units, and Group Strategy to identify and analyse potential M&A opportunities to build the pipeline.
• Evaluating and executing M&A transactions, including buy-side, sell-side, joint ventures, and partnerships.
• Managing complex M&A/corporate finance transactions, leading junior colleagues, and interacting across units and external advisers.
• Building complex financial models for asset valuation and impact analysis from first principles.
• Conducting financial analyses such as DCF, comparable company and transaction analyses, cash flow, and credit analysis.
• Addressing key issues from due diligence and transaction documentation.
• Contributing to innovative M&A and finance solutions.
• Preparing presentations and memos for the Group Board and senior management regarding transactions.
• Mentoring and training analysts in the team.

What We're Looking For:

• Finance qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CFA, or equivalent.
• Experience in M&A, business development, or corporate finance, including valuation and execution.
• Strong corporate finance knowledge and practice.
• Experience working with senior executives in confidential environments.
• Ability to develop complex financial models for valuation and impact analysis.
• High intellectual capability with a growth mindset and ability to analyze complex information for strategic arguments.
• Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills.
• Excellent organizational, project management, and team-working skills.
• Ability to operate independently, set goals, and deliver in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills and stakeholder relationship-building ability.
• Willingness to learn about energy, utility, and capital markets.
