RESPONSIBILITIES
- In depth analysis of weekly trading by channel. Provide business with actions and comments based on outcome of trade for the week.
- Input into seasonal and annual sales forecasts and budgets
- Regular sales performance analysis to identify best and worst sellers and take actions based on this.
- Suggestion of product life cycle for all products within the business based upon stock, sales and new lines
- Ad hoc deep dives into stock by sub-category to support the needs of the business.
- Suggestion of reorders on core product during weekly trade process.
- Alongside Buying have responsibility and management for the Open to Buy.
- Produce and analyse seasonal reporting packs - extensive analysis alongside buying in weeks leading up to seasonal sign offs.
- Monitoring stock availability across all channels ensuring product is stocked in the correct channels in the correct quantities. Ensuring stock levels are reacting to consumer demand and seasons.
- Manage product intake delivery dates – pushing or pulling or possibly cancelling orders depending on sales performance using line cards.
- Supporting Buying and Design, to create commercial and strategic ranges to sit in line with brand and budget. Review historical product performance to support future product strategy and option plan.
- Working with Buying to analyse trends across the product offering and using this to help inform design for future seasons.
- Ability to adapt and evolve reporting tools to keep up with business growth.
- Monitor stock movement and consider markdowns, promotions, price changes, clear outs etc
- Collaborate with buying department to negotiate prices, quantities and time-scales for deliveries
- Development and ongoing management of stock and sales forecasting
- Working with production on delays to deliveries and whether we need to investigate other transport methods (with margin guidance from buying)
SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS
- Proven working experience within a merchandising role
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Strong listening, presentation and decision making skills
- Proven experience in forecasting and planning, preferably in a retail or ecommerce environment.
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to influence internally, explain logic and articulate own decision making.
- Strong commercial awareness
- Ability to prioritise workload and manage time effectively to meet strict deadlines
- Ability to remain flexible and support continued process improvement.
- Advanced Excel Skills (pivot tables, v-lookups, multiple function use within formulas, advanced data manipulation), will need to provide evidence of this.
