Job summary

Electus Recruitment Solutions is seeking an experienced MEP Design Manager with strong HVAC expertise to lead Stage 5 design for a major London infrastructure programme. Hybrid role based in London with on-site collaboration.

You will manage design across assets, coordinate with HVAC suppliers and subcontractors, ensure buildability, and drive design through construction while adhering to CDM 2015 and safety requirements.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Building Services or equivalent.
• Strong HVAC design background.
• Experience delivering design through construction.
• Experience with specialist design suppliers and subcontractors.
• Infrastructure or complex project background.
• Knowledge of MEP standards and design processes.
• Experience with CDM Regulations 2015.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication.

Responsibilities

MEP Design Manager - HVAC Location: North Acton, London - Hybrid working, minimum 3 days per week on site

Contract: Long-term contract opportunity

We are seeking an experienced MEP Design Manager with strong HVAC experience to join a major infrastructure programme in London.

This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of the HVAC/MEP design across multiple assets, managing the design through detailed design and into construction. You will act as a key point of contact for the specialist supply chain, ensuring designs are coordinated, compliant, buildable and delivered to programme.

The Role

The Role As MEP Design Manager - HVAC, you will take a leading role in the delivery of Stage 5 Design for Construction & Manufacturing, working closely with supply-chain partners, engineering, assurance, commercial and construction teams.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing Stage 5 HVAC/MEP design deliverables from the specialist supply chain.
• Managing design packages through reviews, approvals, certification and construction.
• Acting as the principal design interface with HVAC suppliers and subcontractors.
• Coordinating interfaces between designers, suppliers and the wider project.
• Managing technical queries and driving issues through to resolution.
• Identifying design scope gaps, clashes and interface issues.
• Ensuring designs consider installation, maintenance, health, safety and welfare.
• Monitoring design progress and reporting key risks and issues.
• Working closely with engineering, technical assurance, quality and delivery teams.
• Managing Stage 4 design queries and defects that impact Stage 5 delivery.
• Ensuring CDM 2015 requirements and design-risk processes are correctly implemented.
• Chairing design and progress meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
• Supporting commercial teams with subcontract and cost management.

About You

We are looking for someone with:

• Strong MEP design management experience.
• Good technical understanding of HVAC systems, gained from a design and/or delivery environment.
• Experience managing detailed design through to construction.
• Experience managing specialist design suppliers and subcontractors.
• Major infrastructure or similarly complex project experience.
• Strong understanding of design assurance, interfaces and technical coordination.
• Knowledge of relevant MEP standards and design processes.
• Experience implementing CDM Regulations 2015 within the design process.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• A proactive, organised approach with the ability to take ownership of a package and drive it through to completion.
• Experience with systems such as AutoCAD, Navisworks and ProjectWise.
• Relevant CSCS White or Black Card.A degree or professional qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services or a related discipline would be advantageous, as would knowledge of NEC contracts and specialist MEP engineering software.
