Job summary

Pertemps North West and North Wales in Wigan (WN6) is seeking a Machine Operator for a temporary-permanent role. Salary is £13.27 per hour with Monday–Friday 07:00–15:00 shifts.

You will be mentored by an experienced team and learn to operate CNC milling machines, band saws, forklifts, and cranes while performing stock control and packing duties. This position requires good maths, a hard-working attitude, and clear communication.

Qualifications

• Willingness to learn and develop new skills.
• Must have a good understanding of Mathematics and figures.
• Physically fit due to some heavy lifting.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Carry out general warehouse duties in a busy steel stockholding environment.
• Operate band saws and circular saws (training provided).
• Learn to use CNC milling machines.
• Support metal finishing processes.
• Assist with packing and preparing customer orders.
• Load and unload vehicles on arrival of stock.
• Check, measure and inspect incoming and stored stock.
• Maintain accurate stock control records.
• Complete routine quality checks.
• Receive training in safe use of overhead cranes and slings.
• Learn to operate forklifts and side loaders.
