Job summary

Masstemps is currently seeking an experienced CNC Lathe Machinist to join a busy manufacturing operation near the Walsall area. You will set and operate Star CNC lathes, prepare tooling and offsets, and read engineering drawings to tight tolerances.

You will perform first-off and in-process inspections with micrometers and verniers, adjust tooling to maintain quality, and monitor production performance. Monday–Friday, 13:30–22:00, £13–£15 per hour.

Qualifications

• Previous CNC setter/operator experience in manufacturing/engineering.
• Experience operating CNC lathes is essential.
• Experience setting tooling, offsets, workholding and machine parameters.
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Experience using measuring equipment such as verniers, micrometers and gauges.

Responsibilities

• Set and operate Star CNC lathes to manufacture components to drawings.
• Set tooling, offsets, and machine parameters for production runs.
• Read and interpret drawings, tolerances, and specifications.
• Carry out first-off and in-process inspections using micrometers and verniers.
• Make tooling and offset adjustments to maintain quality.
• Monitor machine performance and address issues affecting production.
• Change tools and adjustments to maintain production cadence.
• Complete production paperwork and traceability records.
• Work to health & safety and quality procedures.
• Assist with HAAS and Dugard machining centres when required.
• Support other operators and maintain an efficient production area.
