Cygnet Joyce Parker Hospital in Coventry is seeking a Mental Health Law Practitioner to support the MHA Administrator and ensure legal compliance with the Mental Health Act 1983. You will handle detention processes, maintain records, and coordinate with patients, relatives, and legal representatives while working Monday to Friday, 09:00–17:00.

Prior administration experience and familiarity with MHA and regulatory requirements are desirable.

Qualificações

• Experience in administration, including report preparation and meetings.
• Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• GCSE English and Maths at minimum level.
• Excellent organisational skills.
• Experience in healthcare environment desirable.
• Knowledge of Mental Health Act 1983 desirable.
• Knowledge of regulatory compliance and auditing systems desirable.

Responsabilidades

• To ensure that all procedures relative to the Mental Health Act and associated legislation are adhered to.
• Ensure the legal detention of patients.
• Ensure adequate records for detained patients are maintained.
• Ensure adequate and safe storage of documentation.
• Receive section papers during working hours.
• Arrange correction of errors relating to detention of patients to meet all legal requirements.
• Ensure patient and nearest relatives are aware of individual rights and power of detention in force and assist as required with exercising these rights.
• Ensure an up-to-date list of mental health solicitors is available to patients and that patients are represented at hearings or appeals where possible or appropriate.
