Job summary

Cygnet Group is recruiting a Mental Health Law Practitioner / Receptionist to join our Grange and Lodge sites. This dual-role combines compliance with Mental Health Act legislation and providing a professional front-of-house service for patients, visitors, professionals and colleagues.

The successful candidate will be highly organised, approachable and able to manage a varied workload in a fast-paced healthcare environment. 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, salary £29,110 per annum.

Qualifications

• Administration and customer service experience.
• Reception/front-of-house experience.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• GCSEs in English and Maths.
• Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with Mental Health Act 1983 and related legislation.
• Maintain lawful detention records.
• Securely store Mental Health Act documentation.
• Process section papers during working hours.
• Correct errors in detention paperwork for legal compliance.
• Inform patients and relatives of rights and assist in exercising them.
• Maintain an up-to-date list of mental health solicitors for hearings.
• Liaise with clinical teams, external agencies, and legal representatives.
• Support MH Act audits and compliance monitoring.
• Provide a professional, welcoming front-of-house reception.
• Greet visitors and assist patients and professionals.
• Answer and redirect calls and emails.
• Manage post and deliveries.
• Maintain visitor logs and site access procedures.
• Provide general admin support and diary management.
• Ensure reception areas are maintained professionally.
