Job summary

CYGNET is recruiting a Mental Health Law Practitioner to support the MHA Administrator at Cygnet Joyce Parker Hospital in Coventry. You will help ensure the legal requirements of the Mental Health Act 1983 are met and patient rights are respected.

You'll work Monday to Friday 09:00–17:00, with full training and induction, gaining experience in a healthcare setting while coordinating with medical staff and solicitors.

Qualifications

• Previous administration experience including report preparation and meeting coordination.

Responsibilities

• Ensure procedures related to the Mental Health Act 1983 and associated legislation are followed.
• Maintain legal detention records for patients.
• Manage receipt of section papers during working hours.
• Arrange correction of errors relating to detention to meet legal requirements.
• Ensure patients and relatives are aware of rights and detention powers.
• Keep an up-to-date list of mental health solicitors and support representation at hearings where possible.

You will be working Monday to Friday, 09:00am to 17:00pm.Cygnet Joyce Parker Hospital is our emergency mental health hospital in Coventry.
