Job description

Do you love being outdoors, chatting to people and knowing that your work is making a real difference? We're growing our team across Shropshire and are looking for enthusiastic, resilient and people-focused Wildlife Fundraisers to help inspire more people to support the work of Shropshire Wildlife Trust. Working with South West Wildlife Fundraising Ltd (SWWFL) on behalf of Shropshire Wildlife Trust, you'll meet people at events, fairs, festivals and venues across the county, sharing the Trust's work and encouraging people to become members. This is a role where every conversation can help wildlife - from protecting habitats and restoring rivers and wetlands to creating more space for nature across Shropshire.

What you'll be doing
  • Attend booked events, venues, fairs, fetes and festivals across Shropshire.
  • Have friendly, engaging conversations with members of the public about local wildlife and the work of Shropshire Wildlife Trust.
  • Inspire people to become members and support wildlife conservation.
  • Work towards daily membership targets that help the Trust continue to protect and restore nature.
  • Represent the Trust with enthusiasm, professionalism and plenty of personality.
  • Work independently while being part of a supportive team.
We're looking for people who are confident, friendly and genuinely excited about connecting people with nature.
You’ll ideally be:
  • A natural people-person who enjoys starting conversations with strangers.
  • Confident, enthusiastic and a great listener.
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working independently.
  • Resilient, patient and determined - you won't be put off by the occasional "no thanks"!
  • Hard‑working, reliable and able to work towards targets.
  • Someone who gets a genuine buzz from achieving results.
  • Passionate about wildlife, the outdoors and making a difference locally.
  • 18 or over - there's no upper age limit, and this role can work particularly well for semi‑retired or retired people looking for a flexible way to stay active and contribute to their community.
  • You’ll need a full driving licence and access to a car, as you'll be travelling to different locations across Shropshire.

Every new member you inspire helps Shropshire Wildlife Trust continue its work for wildlife and wild places across the county. This role is ideal for someone who is looking for flexibility in their working life, is a natural people-person with great listening skills who has a desire to 'put something back' into the community and make a real difference to local wildlife!

Benefits
  • Permanent employment with flexible working patterns.
  • The opportunity to work around 2-3 days per week, including Saturdays and/or Sundays.
  • Uncapped earning potential, with top performers currently earning around £20-£30+ per hour.
  • A supportive, friendly team with a real family feel.
  • Full training and ongoing support, including a three-day induction, shadow training and field coaching.
  • Travel expenses paid.
  • Pension scheme.
  • Varied working environments across Shropshire.
  • Plenty of opportunities to get out and about at fetes, fairs, festivals and outdoor events.
  • Come and make a difference for wildlife

If you're someone who loves talking to people, enjoys being outdoors and wants your work to have a positive impact on the place you live, we'd love to hear from you. You don't need to be a wildlife expert. You just need enthusiasm, determination and a belief that protecting nature is something worth talking about.
