Membership Manager
6 month Maternity Cover (July start)
Remote (monthly meeting in London)
We are recruiting for a national trade association representing employers in the creative media services sector. The association's mission is to advocate for its members at various levels, promoting industry growth and sustainability through policy engagement, talent pipeline development, and member services.
The organisation is small but influential, known for its active Board, trusted relationships, and dedicated team.
Role Summary
Seeking a proactive, organized individual to manage membership operations during a maternity leave. The candidate will lead recruitment, engagement, retention, sponsorship, events, and revenue activities—ideal for someone experienced in membership or business development in a small, collaborative team.
Key Responsibilities
Membership & Business Development
- Implement plans for member recruitment, retention, and sponsorship.
- Research and engage prospective members and sponsors.
- Build awareness of the organisation’s offerings.
- Support business development strategies.
- Serve as the main contact for members during their lifecycle.
- Monitor renewal risks and reduce churn proactively.
- Provide reports to the CEO and quarterly updates to the Board.
Member Communications & Marketing
- Assist in developing and distributing newsletters, emails, brochures, and digital materials.
- Work with the communications team to promote benefits.
- Respond promptly to queries from members and stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate CRM and marketing records.
- Oversee member benefit providers and communication.
- Manage budgets for membership marketing and development.
Events & Engagement
- Contribute to member-focused events.
- Attend occasional industry events in London and across the UK.
- Support initiatives to enhance membership experience.
- Gather feedback to improve engagement and satisfaction.
General
- Develop understanding of the sector and advocacy work.
- Work flexibly and collaboratively.
- Perform ad hoc duties as needed.
Person Specification
- Experience in marketing, account management, or business development within a membership or trade association.
- Proven ability to deliver value across the member lifecycle.
- Strong negotiation and closing skills.
- Quick understanding of sector-specific issues and value propositions.
- Excellent interpersonal skills for stakeholder engagement.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly organized, proactive, and independent worker.
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and CRM systems.
- Familiarity with tools like Eventbrite, SurveyMonkey, Zoom, and Teams.
- Knowledge of the UK creative media, TV, or film industry.
- Experience supporting C-level stakeholders.
- Understanding of trade or membership organisations.
Education & Experience
- At least two years in a relevant membership, marketing, or sales role.
- A Levels (or equivalent Level 3) with GCSEs (or equivalent Level 2) in Maths and English.
Additional Requirements
- A suitable home workspace and internet connection for remote work.
- Willingness to travel within the UK occasionally.
- Ability to attend occasional evening events.
