Job summary

CHG Electrical is seeking a proactive Mechanical Design Engineer in Sheffield with hybrid working options. You will develop mechanical solutions for water and wastewater MEICA projects, from pumps and pipework to GA layouts and P&IDs, collaborating with civil and electrical teams to deliver robust, buildable designs.

You will contribute to design calculations, equipment specifications and on-site support, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and water company requirements while

Qualifications

• Degree, HNC or HND in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 3–5+ years' mechanical design experience in utilities, infrastructure or water projects.
• Experience designing pumps, pipework, valves, tanks and/or process plant.
• Experience developing and interpreting P&IDs, GA layouts, process flow information and equipment specifications.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Inventor and pipework/process design tools or equivalents.
• Familiarity with WIMES and Sewerage Sector Guidance.

Responsibilities

• Prepare mechanical designs, drawings and calculations for pumps, pipework, valves, tanks and process plant.
• Develop P&IDs, GA layouts and equipment schedules for project mobilisation.
• Ensure designs integrate with civil, electrical and other disciplines.
