Role Overview

To work under the direction of nurses to deliver and improve primary care services, administer medicines on the house blocks against valid prescriptions to offenders, and promote effective links with health and related services in the community to ensure continuity of care.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide medicines management services to the allocated treatment area daily.
  2. Oversee the ordering and supply of repeat prescriptions and stock medication.
  3. Ensure high standards of work and adherence to SOPs.
  4. Administer medicines against valid prescriptions.
  5. Act as a role model and demonstrate ongoing CPD.
  6. Manage own workload effectively.
  7. Maintain registration with the GPhC and adhere to its Code of Conduct.
  8. Participate in audits and contribute to departmental improvements.
  9. Ensure security and safety protocols are followed, including custodial responsibilities.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Accreditation as a checking technician and/or medicines optimisation.
  • Registration with GPhC.
  • Willingness to undertake National Security Vetting.
  • Proof of right to work, ID, address, and appropriate police checks.
