We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Medical Secretary to join our busy secretary team on a Part-Time basis for 22 hours per week. The working pattern is Monday to Wednesday but there is some flexibility to change this.
We are looking for someone who:
Has experienceof working in general practice and has experience of the secretarial role.
Is friendly,polite and confident.
Can communicateeffectively and has good interpersonal skills.
Is a teamplayer.
Has the abilityto work accurately under pressure.
Providing anefficient audio and copy typing service for GPs and health professionals whichincludes the typing of letters, reports, patient referrals, minutes, etc. in anaccurate and quality manner.
Liaising withclinicians, administration staff, secondary care clinicians and theirsecretaries, patients, and other external organisations
Actioning allincoming email and all administrative queries as necessary and ensuringreferrals are processed efficiently
Monitor daily tasksensuring the workload is prioritised throughout the day
Supporting allclinical staff with general administrative tasks as requested
Measham Medical Unit is a friendly, forward thinking and supportive GPpractice based on the outskirts of North West Leicestershire, providingservices to patients in North West Leicestershire, Staffordshire, Derbyshireand Warwickshire.
We have a comprehensive mutli-disciplinary team including GPs ClinicalPharmacists, Pharmacy Technician, Advanced Nurse Practitioner,Paramedic, Physicians Associates, First Contact Practitioner, Practice Nurses, Health Care Assistants and a Mental Health Facilitator.
The Partners are friendly and supportive and are supported by awell-established and cohesive Management Team, including a dedicated Office Manager.

Our in-house dispensary provides dispensing services to around half of our patient population and operates a deliveryservice.

The following are the core responsibilities ofthe Medical Secretary. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry outother tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffinglevels:
Toprovide an efficient audio, copy typing service for GPs and healthprofessionals as required. This includesthe typing of letters, reports, patient referrals, minutes, etc. in an accurateand quality manner.
Toliaise with clinicians, administration staff, secondary care clinicians andtheir secretaries, patients, and other external organisations, actioning allincoming email and all administrative queries as necessary and ensuringreferrals are processed efficiently.
Managingall enquiries in an effective manner.
Actioningall incoming email into the secretary specific email account.
Monitordaily tasks ensuring the workload is prioritised throughout the day.
Scanningpatient related documentation and attaching scanned documents to patientshealthcare records.
Inputtingdata into the patients healthcare records as necessary.
Processingreferrals using both the electronic referral system (ERS) and manual systems.
Processingrequests for information i.e., SAR, insurance/solicitors letters and DVLAforms.
Raisinginvoices for the above and chasing payment as required.
Codingdata on the clinical IT system (SystmOne).
Answeringincoming phone calls, transferring calls, or dealing with the callers request appropriately.
Managingall administrative queries as necessary.
Carryingout system searches as requested.
Tomaintain confidentiality of patient information at all times.
Supportingall clinical staff with general administrative tasks as requested.
Tosupport the Business Manager with clerical and administrative duties.
To provide cover for members of the secretarial team during periods ofsickness and annual leave.
