Job summary

NHS Lanarkshire is seeking a laboratory support colleague to prepare materials and clinical specimens for analysis and to ensure proper disposal of clinical waste. You will register patient-related information on the Laboratory Information System or other systems and work under supervision.

Typical duties include preparing samples, ensuring accurate IDs, centrifugation, and handling inquiries from staff and callers. NHS Lanarkshire offers a range of benefits and development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Standard Grade English and a Science Subject essential.
• Knowledge of Biomedical Science.
• Anatomy and physiology knowledge preferred.
• Extended supervised training for a minimum of one year due to wide range of duties.

Responsibilities

• Prepare samples for analysis and register the request ensuring accuracy of sample identification and documentation.
• Centrifuge and separate samples into secondary tubes for testing.
• Respond to questions and enquiries by page, telephone and in person. Direct enquiries if unable to assist.
