Job summary

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Lab Support role in Salisbury within the Wessex Genomics Laboratory Service. You will join the active Specimen Reception Hub and input patient details into the LIMS with high accuracy as samples are received, sorted and dispatched for downstream analysis.

Responsibilities include maintaining stock, cleaning equipment, monitoring temperatures, applying barcodes, and ensuring correct storage.

Qualifications

• GCSEs in Maths, English and Science with at least a C grade.
• Ability to follow laboratory procedures and maintain records.
• Flexible hours and ability to work as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Receive samples from staff, couriers and post.
• Sort, label with barcodes, prioritise and fast-track urgent specimens.
• Input patient and sample data into the LIMS.
• Resolve issues with mislabeled or lost samples.
• Aliquot and dispatch samples to referral laboratories.
• Maintain cleaning records and monitor equipment temperatures.
• Handle deliveries and update ordering records.
• Provide occasional administrative support.
