Job summary

Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Medical Laboratory Assistant to support the laboratory team. The role involves performing preanalytical procedures, loading samples on Roche equipment, and maintaining SOPs and safety protocols. You will enter patient data, answer lab enquiries, and assist in equipment maintenance.

You will receive and process specimens, label and track samples, and support the admin duties required to ensure smooth laboratory operation within the Trust.

Responsibilities

• Carry out a range of laboratory procedures including maintenance and operation of Preanalytical systems and loading of samples onto Roche lines
• Enter patient data from request forms onto the hospital host laboratory computer
• Answer telephone enquiries to the lab as required
• Maintain and operate equipment adhering to SOPs and Health & Safety regulations
• Monitor operation and assist in maintenance of selected laboratory equipment
• Receive, label, and prepare samples for analysis and ensure correct identification
• Maintain accurate patient data files and perform general office duties as required
