Job summary

Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a Medical Laboratory Assistant to support the Blood Sciences team across its sites. You will perform specimen reception and laboratory duties under supervision of Biomedical Scientists, ensuring accurate data entry and timely processing of samples.

The role involves repackaging specimens for referral, handling equipment with SOPs, and maintaining patient data confidentiality within a busy hospital environment.

Qualifications

• Medical Laboratory Assistants work as part of a team supporting Biomedical Scientists in the blood science service.
• The MLA role includes specimen reception duties: receiving and sorting specimens, and data checking.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and operate Preanalytical systems (Roche 8100 Track) and loading of samples onto Roche 8000 lines.
• Receive and label samples; prepare for analysis.
• Be flexible to provide service in the best interests of the department.
• Conform to departmental policies including confidentiality and security.
• Use Hospital Information System within Trust protocols and guidelines.
• Perform general office duties as required.
