Job summary

The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Medical Technical Officer to join the Clinical Genomics department in Sutton. You will support analytical molecular diagnostics investigations and handle techniques such as PCR, qPCR, NGS, and fragment analysis, within an ISO 15189 accredited service.

The role requires strong IT literacy, ability to work independently and in teams, and a commitment to high-quality patient-focused service.

Qualifications

• BSc in Biological Sciences, Genetics, or related discipline.
• Understanding of DNA/RNA and molecular genetics.
• Familiarity with UKAS, IQA/EQA standards and COSHH procedures.
• Proven laboratory experience in molecular diagnostics or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Carry out analytical molecular diagnostics investigations with minimal supervision.
• Perform PCR, qPCR, ddPCR, NGS, and fragment analysis.
• Ensure quality control and compliance with SOPs and policies.
• Assist in training junior staff and support data management for the service.
