Job summary

The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust in Sutton is seeking a Medical Technical Officer to join the Clinical Genomics department. The role involves delivering ISO 15189 accredited molecular diagnostics services, handling advanced techniques and data management, and supporting junior staff.

You will work in a cutting-edge centre within the Centre for Molecular Pathology, contributing to high-quality cancer diagnostics and participating in training and quality assurance activities.

Qualifications

• BSc in Biological Sciences, Genetics, or related discipline.
• Basic understanding of DNA/RNA and molecular genetics.
• Awareness of health & safety and COSHH procedures in labs.
• Understanding of UKAS, IQA/EQA standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide ISO 15189 accredited clinical genomics service.
• Perform analytical molecular diagnostics with minimal supervision.
• Carry out tests such as PCR, qPCR, ddPCR, NGS, fragment analysis.
• Train junior staff and manage data in LIMS.
• Ensure quality systems and SOPs are followed.
