This is an exciting for someone looking to start or grow a career in a laboratory environment. The successful candidate will play a vital role in the smooth operation of the microbiology laboratory, supporting key scientific functions. We are seeking a capable, adaptable, and proactive individual who can work independently or within a small team.

This role offers full training and excellent potential for career progression within a committed and client-focused workplace.

About The Position

  • Shift: Sunday - Thursday
  • Hours: 10:30 - 19:00
  • Location: Rotherham
  • Contract: Full-Time and Permanent

The day to day

  • Perform daily calibration of laboratory equipment and assist with quality control checks
  • Prepare culture media and other materials for microbiological testing
  • Operate the autoclave and ensure proper cleaning and sterilization of glassware
  • Maintain stock levels and support inventory management for lab supplies
  • Follow all laboratory procedures and safety protocols accurately
  • Keep the work area clean, organized, and compliant with health and safety standards

The Essentials

  • Minimum 5 GCSEs (or equivalent), including Science, English, and Mathematics
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to stay focused on repetitive tasks
  • A consistent employment record and reliable work ethic
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a small team
  • Basic computer literacy: LIMS experience is a bonus
  • A positive, proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and grow
