This is an exciting for someone looking to start or grow a career in a laboratory environment. The successful candidate will play a vital role in the smooth operation of the microbiology laboratory, supporting key scientific functions. We are seeking a capable, adaptable, and proactive individual who can work independently or within a small team.
This role offers full training and excellent potential for career progression within a committed and client-focused workplace.
About The Position
- Shift: Sunday - Thursday
- Hours: 10:30 - 19:00
- Location: Rotherham
- Contract: Full-Time and Permanent
The day to day
- Perform daily calibration of laboratory equipment and assist with quality control checks
- Prepare culture media and other materials for microbiological testing
- Operate the autoclave and ensure proper cleaning and sterilization of glassware
- Maintain stock levels and support inventory management for lab supplies
- Follow all laboratory procedures and safety protocols accurately
- Keep the work area clean, organized, and compliant with health and safety standards
The Essentials
- Minimum 5 GCSEs (or equivalent), including Science, English, and Mathematics
- Strong attention to detail and ability to stay focused on repetitive tasks
- A consistent employment record and reliable work ethic
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a small team
- Basic computer literacy: LIMS experience is a bonus
- A positive, proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and grow
