About the role:

We have an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Technician to join our Maintenance team at Rye Meads Sewage Works. Your role will be to ensure all equipment operates safely and efficiently through proactive and reactive maintenance, supporting the site's ongoing operation.

This role offers a chance to make a significant environmental impact by helping to reduce pollution from our sites.

What you’ll be doing as the Mechanical Technician

• Investigate plant failures and perform repairs swiftly to prevent process interruptions, including diagnosing complex faults and repairing during incidents.
• Provide technical advice, stay updated with technical knowledge, and support or train technical trainees as needed.
• Work on equipment such as motors, gearboxes, conveyors, centrifuges, pumps, control gear, VSDs, valves, measurement instruments, and chemical dosing equipment.
• Complete statutory checks as required.
• Work safely and adhere to all health and safety procedures.

Location & Working Pattern

Base: Rye Meads Sewage Works - SG12 8JY

Pattern: 38 hours, Monday-Friday, 7:30 am – 3:36 pm, with standby and overtime opportunities, potentially increasing earnings by £8,000-£10,000 annually.

All PPE and tools provided.

What you should bring to the role

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering
• Valid driving license
• Experience as a time-served apprentice in Mechanical systems
• Knowledge of health and safety procedures
